I’ve been writing and sharing online for almost 25 years—long enough to say I was doing it before Blogspot, before Myspace, before Friendster was even a thing. My Internet obsession actually started back in the AOL days, where I’d be up all hours of the night in my parents’ home office, scouring chatrooms and meeting people from all over the world. Those first moments online were like fireworks in my brain—I knew this would change everything.
And it did. It’s been a wild, beautiful—and lately—chaotic ride. But now it feels like we’re on the descent, growing closer to the end with each day. I call it “late-stage blogging,” but call it whatever you like.
Despite enshittification, I still have hope we’ll find new ways to share our ideas and stories, just like humans always have. Substack is a decent start, although not perfect. I’m curious to see where things go.
For now, I’m grateful to have this space where I can think out loud, share discoveries, tell stories, and meet people who remind me why I started doing this in the first place. Thanks for being here.
