I read about 35 books in 2024—a decent amount. Not quite a book a week, but certainly enough to keep my brain stimulated. I’m a big fan of memoirs and biographies, but this year I tried to read more fiction to improve my fiction writing (yet another thing I’ve been doing on the side for about a year). I also explored some classics I’ve been meaning to get to, mixed in with newer releases, and finally finished some that I dipped in and out of for more then a year.
Here are my favorite 15 books of the year:
Have you read any of these? What were some of the best books you read this year? I’m working on building up my 2025 queue!
Ah! I had filterworld on my list but never got to it. Would you recommend it for 2025 still? (Also SO love that you handwrote this, what a vibe)
I loved Ambition Monster (do you listen to her podcast with Kim France - Everything is Fine?) and Rebel Girl. I am finishing Quickening (non fiction and so so good). I loved Lady Tan's Circle of Women (it is outside my normal genre, but I could not start another book for a week or so after because I was still so lost in that world), The Great Believers (this was a re-listen and, perhaps, better the second time), I tore through a couple of Katherine Center books, and enjoyed listening to The Husbands (quirky and fun).
