I missed Jem as a kid but LOVED the intro in my 20s - that lives in my head rent free for sure. I also just wrote a bit about making something positive with AI recently! I’m an eternal optimist and feel like we don’t have any option but to be into tech, given it’s social status (which is maybe why I’m thinking so much about the digital divide atm).

Yes, and I think the issue I have with tech is that it's completely in control of how we do everything now, and that the ways we used to communicate and engage will be lost. I don't know that this is good for our species, honestly. I'm not sure if we will revolt or Big Tech will figure out that they can't sell us AI-generated songs or art because those creative endeavors by AI have no value in our society. I guess we'll see how it all plays out.

I should add that humans x AI is still a powerful creative combo, and should continue to be explored, but not because it will be successful with the algorithm, but because it is soulful and resonates

Omg so much yes to both these points! Like...technology is a tool at the end of the day, but it does feel like there are folks who've lost sight of that and are trying to create some digital god, all-solving AI. Which quite frankly, would mean a super boring existence, right?! I guess the quest is balance. I never thought we'd actually live in villain vs. hero cartoon times for real though 😂🥹

Yup! And if we train it on only what’s been done it never sees the process, drafts, concepts etc. and how can it have taste? Know what we need & want vs what the data is. The idea of it becoming sentient is intriguing but I can’t wrap my brain around that quite yet… but for now there’s no way it is going to do creative labor. It’s already collapsing on itself…

Ok, consider my mind blown re: only training AI on the final product not the input required. Reminds me of dictation at school instead of you know...learning HOW to learn. Sometimes we really do miss the woods for the trees...

I love this idea! I hope it comes true at least in part ❤️
